Kensington Compost Network provides places for residents to compost organic food & garden scraps to support our local growing community.

Town Hall Compost is open 24/7 for your convenience, and has a wildlife habitat garden, community food garden, and a compost equipment exchange shelf ("take what you need, leave what don't").

Please:

1) add your compostable scraps where it says "COMPOST HERE"

2) cover your scraps with sawdust from the yellow bins

3) make sure the compost bay lid is closed when you leave

What’s accepted

  1. Fruit and veggies (chopped)
  2. Tea leaves, paper tea bags, coffee grounds
  3. Dried plants or leaves
  4. Eggshells (crushed)
  5. Plain paper and cardboard (ripped up)
  6. Cooked food, bread, pasta, etc

What’s not

  1. Meat, fish, or dairy products
  2. Cooking oils or fats
  3. Biodegradable plastics (unless certified "Home Compostable")
  4. Dog or cat poo
  5. Glossy or coloured paper, foil or container lids
  6. Treated or sealed timber
