Kensington Compost Network provides places for residents to compost organic food & garden scraps to support our local gardening and food growing. Derby Street Food Forest Compost is open 24/7, behind the food forest, between 56 and 70 Derby Street. Please:

1) add your compostables scraps to Bay 1 (right hand side)

2) cover with sawdust from the yellow bins

3) make sure the compost bay lid is closed when you leave

What’s accepted

  1. Fruit and veggies (chopped)
  2. Tea leaves or paper tea bags
  3. Dried plants or leaves
  4. Eggshells (crushed)
  5. Plain paper and cardboard (ripped up)
  6. Coffee Grounds

What’s not

  1. Meat, fish, or dairy products
  2. Cooking oils or fats
  3. Compostable or biodegradable plastics
  4. Dog cat or other animal poo
  5. Glossy or coloured paper, foil or lids
  6. Treated or sealed timber
